A Contest and a Contest

Contest Part One: In the middle of the night, Dave came up to bed and I told him my dream. I knew I had done this, but I couldn't remember what the dream was, so he reminded me: G won a contest and he got to fly 24 of his friends over the ocean, but it was in an open sort of plane type thing, but it wasn't a plane. It was really cool. And then he got to go to Beachwood.... (and I fell back asleep).
Contest Part Two: I was at a PTA meeting or some other meeting with a school official and there were a bunch of other parents there. There was a contest and whoever could tread water (at the indoor pool) the longest won. You couldn't stop moving. There were two ladies who were standing on the ledge and the principal looked at them, but didn't do anything about it. Then we were told that we could go outside, but we had to keep moving. I was the only who went outside. I had to write, but keep moving. I wasn't told that the contest was over and then all of a sudden there was no one left. I went in and yelled at the principal saying that I should have won because I followed the rules. He gave me a map to someplace in California, a spa, that was 2 hours away and I had to drive there and then do some scratch off ticket-type things before I would find out what my prize was. I said that wasn't fair, that I should know before I had to drive that far. And then I woke up.

MS Walk 2008

The 2008 MS walk was an official success. The train ride down and back was amazing (except for the jerky train driver on the way back that doesn't see a wagon as a "mobile aid"). The kids loved the fountains at Tower City Center. We walked all 4 miles with only a little bit of "Can we go back now? Can we go inside? I'm cold. I want a snack." Truthfully, it wasn't that much complaining. And once we got the windmills, everyone was super happy. Even Little One hanging off of Molly's arm walking down the hill was fun. I can't wait until next year!

Chili's

I was at Giant Eagle and all these restauranteurs were shopping for their fish selection and other fresh food. In particular, there were two girls from Chili's who had to wear, as part of their uniform, their hair up in a ponytail with chilis going around it. This one chef kept being undecisive and putting his food back and then picking it up again. Chili's was paired up with Giant Eagle and when they drove off in their van, the van had both logos on it.

What a Weekend

I know I had a dream last night. I believe it was about work, although my co-worker had a dream that there was a pond outside of work and we would swim and watch tv all day. My map dot fingerprint dystrophy acted up not once this weekend, but, just like dipping on Passover, it acted up twice this weekend. Saturday I was up at 4 am and last night it was 1 am, although last night wasn't nearly as bad as Saturday night. I seriously wanted to take my eye out and have a glass eye. I cannot describe how painful this condition can be. You can't close your eye, you can't open your eye. Nothing you can do makes it feel better. Ibuprofen helps the pain a little, but you're scared to go back to sleep in fear that the your eye will dry out even more and rip the cornea a 2nd time in the same night. I don't know what to do right now. I can go back to my ophthalmologist, although I don't know how much I trust her right now. I can find someone new - which is probably what I will do. I have no continuity of care. 1 1/2 years ago I was told it was "dry eyes". 1/2 year ago I was told it was map dot fingerprint dystrophy, which is not curable and mine seems to be getting worse. The whole next day I'm disoriented and dizzy because it throws off my equilibrium. It affects my reading, which scares me tremendously. Oh, what to do, what to do.

My New Job

I was at my place of employment. I work on the 2nd floor. I've always wondered what they do on the first floor, and finally someone had left the door open. I walked in and then there was another locked door. There was someone standing there waiting to lock the door, but she didn't have the key and she couldn't move until the door was locked. For some reason, I had the key so I walked in to see what it was. It was a two-story business (which is weird because I work on a 2nd floor and there's no room for the first floor business to have a second floor) and it was some kind of video production company. There were a lot of computers and gadgetry on the first floor and people were bustling around. The second floor seemed more like offices of some type. They had the Miss USA contest playing (not against a screen or anything, but in mid-air) and they were trying to work out some kinks. I had told someone that I had seen it and I had seen the flaws and started fixing them. One girl came up to me and said she wanted to be my intern. I basically had a 2nd job working at this company without any interview or anyone really even knowing my name.

Honey

[Insert Picture]

G took a teaspoon of honey. He poured it himself.
I was in an apartment and had to take a quick shower, but kept getting interrupted.

A funeral on a bus?

We were going to a funeral. We had to drive to pick some people up and get the kids changed. Everyone was wearing clothes like they were in the '70s. Little One chose a button down shirt with paisley's all over it. My boss, JB, was there too. We then had to go back to the house to pick some people up so they could follow us. Our neighbors had a funeral too. The hearse pulled into their garage to pick up the casket. I was getting the kids their medicine, when all of a sudden we were on a bus that started to move. I was getting mad at the bus driver, because I needed to put the medicine back in the fridge and the driver was leaving.

A Nighttime Drama

My dream last night was like an older teenage nighttime drama. There was a wealthy family and they were throwing a party. There was a guy who wanted to propose to a girl, but the girl had received a diamond ring, whom she was holding for a friend. Of course, the guy thought the girl was engaged to someone else. There was a "Marie Antoinette" style tree-lined street and instead of driving, the older teens (who were probably in their early 20s) were walking. There was miscommunication and drama. There was almost a fight. There were parents who didn't want any of what was going on to happen, but didn't actually do anything about it. There was the friend who was telling lies and the other friend who was trying to help. There was the girl who was then, instead, going to propose to the guy. There was the person from the "wrong side of the tracks" who didn't have as much money as everyone else.
The biggest image I remember from the dream is the hand with the huge rock on it.

An Audition and a Hotel

I was interviewing for a waitress position. I thought I'd have a leg up on the competition by carrying a tray in with me on one arm, like they would in a restaurant. I had to walk down a really long hallway and through a few doors. Then I was standing in line. It turned out that I was auditioning for a spot on an SNL type show. I was being heckled as I was standing in line. It turned out that there were four people with my last name (my maiden name) that worked on the show and one of them was named Ken - he was the lighting guy. As I was waiting my turn I kept thinking to myself that it's been ages since I've done improv comedy and didn't know what I would do. When it was my turn I had stood up for myself and the cast appreciated what I did. They said that they weren't giving me the job because of my last name. I was doing my first show and M.W. (the guy pictured above) was part of the cast. He had taken a liking to me. We both had blue and orange paint all over us because of a skit we had just performed and we were sitting backstage and came lip to lip without actually kissing. It turns out that we were an item. We were hanging out and he didn't care about the other women that wanted him. We had slowly started taking off our clothes when I kind of woke up and the dream got stuck.

Switch to a store. It was crowded. Dave and I were trying to buy chicken nuggets and cashews (though in retrospect in my dream I tried to figure out why I needed the cashews for nuggets because that's not how I cook them). It turns out that I had fried shrimp in my hand anyway. Dave walked to a different grocery store to find what we needed. I was trying to check out and had only half an eye on Little One. I knew he was close by. I walked away from the cashier to get him in the middle of paying. He was right in front of a moving shopping cart and instead of saying something I just held the cart in place and picked up Little One and showed him to the guy that almost ran him over. Then the cashier that I was dealing with had to now deal with the safe and she couldn't check out my order. They tried giving me change in Canadian money. They kept trying to give me more but I kept asking for American. Finally they gave me a $40 canadian gift card. The kids weren't with us anymore and Dave and I were far from home so we stopped at a hotel that was run by Target. It had 4 pools all in the shape of the bullseye. It wasn't finished yet but it was $120 a night and we couldn't afford that, even with the gift card. There were a lot of new people in the hotel and they were giving a tour of the place. Then I woke up.

Bloodview's new room

I was at Bloodview Haunted House. I was getting into makeup. There was a new room. It was a frozen pond, with open water in the middle. It was called "Hell Isn't Freezing Over". I hadn't been there in a while and hadn't walked through in a while, but I felt at home. I was doing gymnastics down three flights of open stairwell as if I knew where every nook and cranny was to put my feet and hands. I was getting the best scares and the room design was awesome. Lots of pop outs and lots of great dialogue came from it.

Working for Who?

I was told that I would be working for some people. We had a mission to go on and we had to look convincing, look the part. I think they were criminals. They kept wanting to put me in certain clothes, wear makeup and expensive, name-brand outfits. They kept coming back in to see if I was dressed because there was a deadline. We had to leave. I spilled drink or food on mine and I just kept not getting ready. I kept finding excuses. I didn't really want to go with these people and I didn't want to wear their clothes.

I was sitting at my computer and one of the guys, who was nice, was sitting next to me. He turned on his computer and I was looking over his shoulder. He was trying to click on an email and I told him not even to check it out. He pressed the wrong button and a virus popped up that basically killed his computer. There was nothing he could do to save it.

First let me say that I'm an idiot. Of course I didn't see the screen the way I was used to, I was on "edit html" instead of "compose". I need the idiot-proof "compose" layout. That's why I was only seeing code. Anyway, last night's dream:

I was empting file folders. Folder upon folder was getting emptied out.

Hmmm, can we say that there's been a weight lifted off my shoulders? Now, there are still weights up there and I'm still learning how to balance, but a small one has been taken off and the others are being chipped away .

Snow and a Stomach Ache

Don't know if the picture's working. This seem a bit weird today so if you get a bunch of code - my apologies. Molly - can you take a look next time you're over to see if you can help me out?

Anyway, Last night's dream had snow in it. There was a vacation and I had to finish something. Boring, I know, but it's slipped from my consciousness faster than I thought it was going to. It probably had to do with money, with all my worries and frustrations right now. It took me more time than usual just to fall asleep last night. I swear I'm getting an ulcer even thinking about it now.

Juno

[Picture]

So last night I watched Juno - good movie.

The movie continued in my dream and Juno continued her relationship with Vanessa and the baby. They hung out every once in a while and stayed up-to-date with each other.

Then I was in a driveway and I was checking out someone's mail. They had two entire boxes filled with stuff. It wasn't my house or my stuff but I was still checking it out. A little toy car rolled down the driveway and across the street and landed on the other side. There was a man in a santa clause suit.

My brother's dream was that my mom was Rizzo and Step-Dad was an extra in the Broadway version of Grease.

Diving Boards

[INSERT PICTURE HERE]

There was a diving contest. It was doubles dives. The first couple to go kept going towards the board and walking back and going toward the board and walking back. It didn't matter how the dive looked, as long as you made it in the baby pool. When it was our turn I didn't want to psych myself out and so I pushed Dave off and we just dove and did ok. I didn't want to do the back and forth.

Then there was a high board diving contest. There were a few going on that I was watching. There was one contest where the girls were jumping on one board to a lower board and then going into the pool, but that was so they didn't jump from as high. The real contest was between two people and they had to jump straight from the diving board into the pool without using the second board. One guy in the contest wanted me to be his surrogate and jump for him but the girl in the contest was trying to sabotage everything and didn't want me to jump, even though it was within the rules of the contest to use a surrogate.

Party and a War

Sorry, no picture today. I'm on someone else's computer and don't want to deal with it. Here we go:

I was getting ready for the party. I was trying to tease my hair, which was a bleach blond, and it kept falling out in 1/4" pieces. It fell flat, I just couldn't tease my hair (Note: My brother's '80s prom party is tonight - I'm assuming this is a reference to that.) I was in a foreign city and there was a type of war going on. A relative of mine was there and I didn't want him to participate. They lost. There was a big field and the bad guys were coming up and I was trying to help our team by giving them directions, but it didn't work. They were laying all over these bunks in all sorts of contorted shapes, moaning and in agony. The leader said that he wished he were dead, to just do it now to put him out of his misery. Then I was in line to check out and I had to go over the loudspeaker and announce to not to drugs or narcotics, that they were bad for you because the cashier couldn't get herself to do it. When I was checking out it was for some gambling game I was playing. I had AAKKQQJ and they were giving me the results of how I did, but I couldn't understand them. Then I was with Karyn and we had to run some errands but to get everyone else to go away and watch the kids she said that we were going to go to a movie. We went into a souvenir shop and I was looking at those little personalized license plates, but they didn't have the names I was looking for and they were all white and boring. Then I was in a breakfast diner and I saw two people I knew, one of which I had known for a long time and the other whom I had met just recently. I was talking with them but the waitresses assumed we were going to end up sitting together and they set up a new table for 6 and I asked if it was imposing and she said it wasn't.

Lost It

I had a vivid dream last night. It was tumultous, or at least that's how I interpreted it to be when I woke up at 3 am, but this morning, with all of the hub bub of the day, it's gone into a black hole. Maybe something today will spark my memory and I'll edit this blog, but for now....bye bye.

Asleep / Awake

I have a sinus infection and yesterday I had Grover's Bad Awful Day. The only good that came out of it was, since I had left work early, I was able to get a cheaper medication to take care of my infection ($79 Avelox v. $4 Cipro). Well, it turns out that money has to now go to my speeding ticket. Well, I was in so much pain last night that I took some cough medicine to ease the pain in my throat. It was strange - I was laying there, body silent, but my brain felt like it was working overtime. I wasn't thinking of anything in particular, but my mind would just not shut off. At about 12:30 G woke up thinking that his ankles were being broken and with pain in his legs. A little Motrin did the trick, but what do you say to a little boy who is convinced that his heels are being broken except that you understand him and love him and that they aren't being broken - all the while knowing he really feels it even if it isn't happening - I gave him the validation he needed - to be heard.

A Wedding To Be

I was at my wedding shower. It was just hours before the wedding. My mom was there and she was handing out strange gifts to people. I was at a hotel and there were lots of doors and rooms to go to. The shower was very long and involved. After it was over I was walking around. I didn't want to get dressed yet. I saw some friends from Temple and most of the people there were children, school-age, not grown-ups. It felt more like a Bat Mitzvah then a wedding.

I was walking down a street and a rocket took off at a gas station. It went straight up through the air. It reminds me of an old dream I had that had travelling and a jet engine in it. The plane then came down and bounced head over tail down the street, which I was told was normal. Then there were three people, one on top of the other, walking in the street and they didn't see the hole that the jet left and they tripped. A policeman came to help get them out of the street before they were hit.

I went back to the hotel. It was just 1/2 hour before the wedding and I wasn't dressed yet and my hair and makeup wasn't done. I walked in the hotel and immediately went into a side room, which was a mistake, in hindsight, because I was lead through a maze of hallways and doors to basically come out right by where I had come into the hotel in the first place. I was trying not to see the guests because I only had a bra on top and wasn't ready, but I was looking for Dave.

Note: I tried looking for the dream where I was in a fast jet plane, but couldn't find it. Sorry.
